UNFINISHED Festival is an experience in constant evolution, bringing together a wide range of exceptional people from all backgrounds, generations, and geographies around four days of multidisciplinary conversations and happenings.

An augmented version of our physical EIDOS Space, the UNFINISHED Platform, was launched in 2020 in order to digitally house our community across time zones and borders. Now a permanent online space, our constantly upgrading platform serves as content archive and creative outlet as well as meeting or meal-sharing space, therefore complementing our physical events and bridging the gaps between the two hemispheres of our community.

Timebank

As a natural extension of UNFINISHED’s “pay-with-your-time” model, time banking consists of trading services using hours as currency. Because we believe that time is our most valuable currency today and, arguably, one of our most universally understood concepts.

Research Lab

Technology

The beauty of research—the real, open, unbiased, and ever-questioning research—is that you never know where it takes you. On the other hand, research to support a decision you already made… is not really research! The goal of the UNFINISHED Research Lab is indeed to assemble a team of questioners to observe, gather, interpret, and analyze the world around us to eventually guide our projects in a way that, by nature, should not be predictable now.

From “pay-with-your-time” to time bank, from time bank to making our own coin. We’re not crazy about the DeFi craze, but we’re definitely wild for blockchain’s ability to decenter power, ingrain transparency, program accountability, and technologize trust.

A green haven in the heart of Bucharest, our headquarters have been nested in the garden of the University of Bucharest’s Casa Universitarilor since 2018. Starting with the abandoned deposit we renovated as our office, EIDOS Space is evolving into a creative hub of repurposed buildings in order to host a year-round program of residencies, workshops, and events of all kinds.

Bringing the best independent films from around the world through carefully curated programs and events to Bucharest, where the malls’ movie complexes have killed the dozens of small neighborhood cinemas that used to delight the city.

Community Garden

A shared green urban space around the EIDOS Nest for our neighbors and us to grow fresh, healthy food close to home, intersect daily and across seasons, gather with a purpose and across generations, and learn from nature—our best teacher.

In essence, architecture has little to do with buildings and much more to do with context. We see it as sculpture of social spaces, as wellbeing by design, as thorough studying of humans and their environments. Social Architects can therefore be changemakers and social sculptors of all kinds, whose work we want to highlight, enable, and amplify through podcasts, books, and events.

Mihnea Constantinescu

The desire for creating fellowship programs was seeded in 2018 upon the passing of EIDOS Foundation’s co-founder, the late Romanian ambassador at large, Mihnea Constantinescu. We see fellowships as strategies to bridge generations, to fill the void between the academic world and real life, and to expose tomorrow’s leaders to a broader range of multidisciplinary experience.

Conversations and debates are, in our constant search for better, smarter, kinder conflict, one of the most sincere ways to put our differences to work, bringing together opposing opinions around the same table. Launched in 2020 in a joint effort with UPGRADE 100, the EIDOS Talks focus on journalism and democracy and are growing year by year to tackle other societal topics too.

It’s simple: we love books. We love printing, we love printers, we love printers who love printing and spend days looking for just the right amount of ink to make that one image right. We love designers who love what they do, we love to crowd our office with heavy, dusty boxes and for it to smell like fresh paper. And since we never really met a publisher who was as nice and fair as we were passionate, we decided to do it all ourselves.

Exhibitions

Whether in museums or public squares, exhibitions such as the World Press Photo (starting in 2012), ROMANIAS (2019), or Don’t Take Them for Granted (2020–21) are reaching tens of thousands of people across Romania, from Bucharest and Cluj to Timișoara and Brașov.
